Winter Fun Ahead!

Happy Snow Day!  (or is it Happy Snow WEEK?)  We sure hope you are all having fun enjoying the snow of Michigan and the days off that come with cold and inches of the white stuff.  The PTO has been busy planning fun events to break the winter cold:

Movie Night – Friday, January 16  6:00 – 8:30 pm

Come to the Frozen Sing-along!  Sing with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf and enjoy an evening with friends. Parents are welcome too!  Pizza, popcorn and treats will be available for purchase.  Funds from this movie night will help purchase Raz-Kids for the 1st graders at Parkwood-Upjohn.

If you are dropping off your child, you will need to have contact information left with staff.  Please be ready to provide information when signing your child in at door.

Friday, February 13   6:30 – 8:30

Please join us for a full family night of fun on Friday, February 13th from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Parkwood Upjohn gym!

There will be dancing, crafts and snacks!! Fun for the whole family!

Advanced ticket prices will be $2.00 per person or $3.00 at the door. Or $10.00 per household.

This is not a drop off event.  A parent/guardian must be in attendance for this event with child.

Hoopla is Here!!!

Are you coming tomorrow?  Hoopla starts at 6:00 pm at Milwood Middle School.  If you didn’t get a Fast Pass, $2 gets you in the door.  Almost 200 items were donated for this year’s event, with items ranging from a kids’ bike to park passes at Disney to gift certificates for many restaurants in the area.  Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat from the 5th Graders Concession Stand.  All of their proceeds benefit their trip to Sherman Lake in December.  The basketball game starts at 6:45 pm with the teachers geared up to take on the Milwood and Maple staffs.

The PTO hopes you have a great time and enjoy the Parkwood spirit during this fun event!

Full Swing Ahead!

Here is a list of upcoming events happening at Parkwood-Upjohn:

Parkwood Upjohn Open House – Tuesday, September 16 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm 
Principal Greymountain and staff will introduce themselves and the goals for the school starting at 5:30 on Tuesday, September 16.  After a brief introduction, the open house will begin.  Be sure to stop by the PTO table to fill out a volunteer form.  This form needs to be updated yearly and helps us contact those interested in helping in specific areas (Hoopla, classroom volunteer, vegetable garden, etc.)

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Meeting – Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 pm
The PTO meeting will be held in the gym starting at 7:00 pm.  We will be introducing the new board members as well as highlighting upcoming events and how parents can get involved.  There is an extensive list of activities and programs the PTO funds, including field trips, teacher grants, and the Valentine’s Dance.  Child care will be provided by the Loy Norrix National Honor Society.

Picture Day – Thursday, September 18
This will happen throughout the school day.  Forms have been sent home or can be picked up at school.
